Australian murder suspect’s chilling message to Thai teenager’s family revealed as he insists her death ‘was out of my control’ and says he hopes they can find peace
The Australian man accused of murdering a 17-year-old Thai girl has delivered an emotional message to her grieving family from police custody, saying he hopes they can one day find peace while insisting the tragedy was “out of my control.”
Simon Peter Carman, who is facing murder and body concealment charges in Thailand, made the remarks in a video recorded while he was being held by authorities following his arrest. The comments have triggered renewed public anger as investigators continue building their case.

The death of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla has shocked Thailand and drawn international attention, with the investigation raising broader concerns about the dangers facing vulnerable young people in major tourist destinations.
Police allege Carman met the teenager in Pattaya before the encounter turned fatal. Authorities have accused the Australian of murder, concealment of a body and related offences. He has been charged but has not been convicted, and the allegations remain before the courts.

In the video, Carman addressed the victim’s relatives directly.
“I feel bad for what happened to your daughter,” he said.
“It was out of my control. Um, I hope you—I know you’ll be very sad, upset; same-same me.”
He continued by expressing hope that the family would eventually find some comfort.

“It shouldn’t happen and I hope you’re OK. I know you’re not, but I hope,” he said.
He also urged people to “be careful” before his comments became difficult to understand.
The remarks quickly drew criticism, with many questioning his claim that the events had been beyond his control.

Investigators allege the evidence collected during the inquiry tells a different story. According to police, surveillance footage traced the victim’s final known movements to the H๏τel where Carman had been staying.
Authorities also allege CCTV cameras captured the suspect leaving the H๏τel alone while pulling a large suitcase several hours later.
The victim’s body was later discovered inside a suitcase near railway tracks outside Pattaya, leading police to launch an intensive investigation that ultimately resulted in Carman’s arrest at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport as he allegedly attempted to leave Thailand.

Investigators have also pointed to physical evidence they say is relevant to the case, including marks on Carman’s body that they allege are consistent with a struggle. Police are continuing to examine all forensic evidence as part of the ongoing proceedings.
The case has also prompted renewed debate in Thailand over visitor safety, the protection of young people, and whether additional safeguards are needed in entertainment districts where tourists and locals frequently meet.

Officials say they are continuing to gather evidence during the investigation, while prosecutors prepare the next stages of the case.
For Tunchanok’s family, however, the legal process offers little immediate comfort.
Nearly every new development has reignited public emotion, and Carman’s latest statement—particularly his insistence that the tragedy was “out of my control”—has become the latest focus of widespread attention as the high-profile case moves forward through Thailand’s justice system.
