Jackson police said a fight broke out amongst several unidentified males, which led to the shooting. Ranson said what happened next was chaos.
“And, after that, really it was a blur. I don’t really remember much about everything that happened after that. But, it was chaotic,” Ranson continued. “And I’m feeling sorry for the girl who lost her life. And, after her, she just graduated and I couldn’t imagine losing my life. Like my little brother, he just graduated. I couldn’t imagine my brother going out to celebrate his graduation and losing his life.”
Giovanni Morris, another witness, was there when sH๏τs were fired and said people were celebrating one moment – then gunfire echoed through the venue and everything changed.

“It basically was like partying and whatnot. Then a couple sH๏τs rang off. I don’t think nobody really took it that serious too much. And then, next thing I know, more sH๏τs rang out. It was pretty scary. It was terrifying for sure. It was traumatizing,” Morris said.
Ranson went on and said violence at these events has become all too common.
“I hate to say it, but I feel like I’m desensitized to it to an extent because things like that happen so much out here,” said Ranson. “Like every time I go out, if it’s not somebody fighting or something leads to something – females fighting, dudes shooting – it’s just always something. We really got to do better, like my brother Dio said; we just got to do better because people come out here.”
JPD has not named any suspects yet in this shooting and says this is still an ongoing investigation.
